Werner recognizes that the transition back into civilian life can be quite challenging, especially when starting a second career. We will assist with your transition from a military career to a new career at Werner. Our military recruiting team members are all veterans, meaning they understand your unique position. The team is deeply committed to equipping veterans with the resources and opportunities needed to build lifelong careers. We offer practical guidance and support to help you enter the industry.

Our driving opportunities are available nationwide. As a CMV Driver, you can drive on numerous accounts: solo, team, over the road, regional and home daily.
As a veteran, you're eligible to participate in our industry-first Truck Driver Apprenticeship Program.
Our maintenance technician roles are located at 20 terminals and 19 dedicated sites across the country. As a maintenance technician, you'll provide full-service maintenance to a variety of the latest tractor and trailer models in the industry.
As a veteran, you're eligible to participate in our industry-first Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship Program.
Our logistics management opportunities are primarily located at our Omaha, NE headquarters. As a logistics manager, you'll be responsible for day-to-day transportation operations. This includes driver management, load planning and customer service functions needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
As a veteran, you're eligible to participate in our Transportation Management Apprenticeship Program.

Already Qualified?
If you are a service member who is currently licensed and are employed, or have been employed within the past year (12 months), in a military motor vehicle equivalent to a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), the Military Skills Test Waiver allows you to apply for a Class A commercial driver license (CDL-A) by taking only the written exam and no skill testing is required.
If you have verifiable experience, you may be able to join Werner as a truck driver. Be sure you have a copy of your Military Skills Test Waiver and your training records to provide to your recruiter. Please ensure you check with your state DMV for the current Military Skills Test Waiver Form.

Keep Learning
Werner is committed to helping you continue your education. We provide a variety of resources to help our veterans grow after their service.
Werner will pay up to $2,500 per calendar year (approximately 12 credit hours) for eligible associates who register for courses at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and satisfy policy requirements.
Participants receive 85 percent reimbursement of up to $2,500 of eligible tuition cost.
Military members who use VA educational benefits to pay for truck driving school may be reimbursed.

Associate Resource Group
Werner Veterans Associate Resource Group is dedicated to recognize, honor and continue the legacy of service & commitment of Werner Veterans through networking, career development, resource access and community service.
Through this associate resource group, you will gain ongoing support and networking with other veterans who have joined team blue!
The Werner Veteran Associate Resource Group is geared toward helping veterans capitalize on networking opportunities, develop in their careers, gain easier access to resources and serve our local communities.
If you're a Veteran in crisis or concerned about one, there are caring, qualified VA responders standing by to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Veterans Crisis Line is a free, anonymous confidential resource that's available to anyone, even if you're not registered with the VA or enrolled in VA health care.
Operation Freedom
The most visible initiative within the Operation Freedom Program is the Operation Freedom Fleet.
This fleet, driven by veteran associates, is made of military-themed trucks used to honor, recruit and retain military community members. These military community members attend military and corporate recruiting events while hauling freight safely and on time.
Our Operation Freedom drivers have diverse military backgrounds with decades of military experience. Their safe driving record and professional driving experience make perfect candidates for our Operation Freedom Fleet.
The Operation Freedom Fleet has received multiple awards and accolades from truck shows and military organizations. However, their biggest reward is each driver's pride in being a part of this elite fleet and paying honor and respect to the military community.
