OMAHA, Neb. - Werner Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: WERN), held its inauguration ceremonies May 18, 2007 in Shanghai, China for Werner Global Logistics (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. The events coincided with the company Chairman's first visit to Werner's China operations, and to officially inaugurate the opening of its Asia headquarters.
C.L. Werner, founder and Chairman of the Board for Werner Enterprises, and members of the executive team were joined by key government officials, customers and guests in an inauguration ceremony and a number of media events held in Shanghai's Pudong district where the companies' offices are located.
Werner received its business licenses in 2006 and was recognized as one of the first North American companies to receive combined approval to operate as a wholly owned foreign entity in logistics, trading, warehousing and NVOCC services under China's new regulations. In addition, Werner has been licensed as a NVOCC and U.S. Customs Broker via its subsidiary Werner Global Logistics, U.S. LLC.
The company's strategy has been to extend its services through significant IT investments, warehouses, cross-dock facilities, and alliance carriers all supported by over 9,000 trucks and 25,000 trailers for final mile distribution throughout North America. The company utilizes its proprietary software, Systems Management and Resource Tracking (SMART), to integrate across all modes of transportation including over 5,000 alliance carriers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and China.

"By combining the premier logistics and transportation operators in China with our systems platform and logistics know-how we can deliver best-in-class service from origin to final mile distribution between China and the US marketplace," said Derek Leathers, Senior Executive Vice President of Value Added Services and International.
